"I’m delighted to be participating in the Green Awards. We need as much participation and collaboration as we can get if the shoots of social and environmental sustainability are to really take root and transform our attitudes and behaviours. I like to think we are seeing the age of consumerism turn into the age of investorism. Conscious and positive investment of time, money and talent." Robin Smith, Founder, Host Universal
Launched in 2006 to critical acclaim, the GREEN Awards were set up to recognise and reward creative work that communicates the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility, sustainable development and ethical best practice in any sector and across any marketing discipline.
Now in its 5th year the GREEN Awards™ are going global and are for the first time opened for entry from all over the world.
The Global GREEN Awards™ has become an established event on the global eco-calendar. The Awards illustrate the crucial role that needs to be played by green marketing and sustainability communications in informing people about green issues, products and lifestyle choices, and showcase examples of excellence and best practice in communicating sustainability and green issues. It’s evident now there’s an increasing appetite from business and industry for examples of excellence and best practice in communicating sustainability and green issues which the Green Awards showcase. Previous winners include Nokia, Marks & Spencer, UNEP and Do the Green Thing.
The Global GREEN Awards™ recognise excellence in 16 categories from Best Green International Campaign to Best Green Use of Mobile Apps & Technology.
This year, 3 new categories have been introduced to acknowledge the ever-increasing breadth and depth of green marketing:
• Best Green Educational Project: for educational project that prepares individuals as active and participant world citizens working for their society and the environment.
• Best Green New Product Innovation: for any firms which have incorporated green issues in their product development.
• Best Green Use of Mobile Apps & Technology: for those who have used the mobile platform for green and ethical purposes.
‘The Green Awards go beyond words – celebrating the real activity that is going on in the community to produce inspiring individual and collective actions that are making a tangible contribution to greening the world in which we live. I am delighted to support them’

"NEXT!" The most feared word in the acting world, guaranteed to send a chill up the spine of even the most seasoned actor. "NEXT!" makes the X Factor seem like a stroll in the park and Simon Cowell look like a pleasant, well balanced individual. "NEXT!" sees the acting world from the murky side.
EDINBURGH FESTIVAL: 5-30th AUGUST 2010. 12PM (MIDDAY) ASSEMBLY HALL, MOUND PLACE, EH1 2LX. BAILLIE ROOM. £5 - £11 tickets

“NEXT!” One actress creates a cast of characters. 20 real-life auditions. An emotional
rollercoaster of a plot that’ll make you laugh, cry and squirm.
“NEXT!” Strikes a powerful emotional chord with audiences - we’ve all been there; crushed and rejected, but, like gluttons for punishment, we go back for more - humiliating, stressful yet, strangely funny in hindsight.
“NEXT!” The story of an actress who won’t take ‘no’ for an answer - the triumph of character and spirit, over the ‘casting process’, with the message; failure is vital for learning and growth and – ‘Failure is the first step to Success’.
“NEXT!” Reveals the real reason The Bill is finishing after 27 years! [Some names have been changed to protect the guilty and careers of the innocent.] writer/performer: Kiki Kendrick director: James Barry production design: Anjali Kale set designer: Kate Klinger asm: Nicola Roodt
"NEXT!” is funny, warm, insightful and, despite the many theatrical rejections it portrays, is wonderfully life affirming. Don't miss it!" Peter Souter, writer, ITV’s Married, Single, Other
“NEXT!” is "wide-eyed and open-hearted, Kiki's eternal optimism in the face of the ritual humiliation of the audition process is hilarious, toe-curling and touching. A tour de farce!" Nina Myskow, writer and critic, judge on ITV's New Faces
“NEXT!” a humorous and endearing look at the acting profession from the fraying edges of the casting couch! Kiki’s triumph is in her hilarious portrayal of adversity through the audition process.” Lynne Parker, founder Funny Women
“NEXT!” it takes courage to laugh in the face of rejection - Kiki Kendrick succeeds admirably in her entertaining one-woman show as she relates a selection of funny, touching anecdotes about the agony of the acting audition process." Karen Rosie producer BBC

Sign David Guggenheim's petition to stop the catastrophic use of dispersants in the Guf of Mexico
Letter from David Guggenheim - David E. Guggenheim, Ph.D. the "Ocean Doctor"
I am in Louisiana this week working on a number of issues related to the BP oil spill disaster. It has been an awful sight.
If you heard my recent interview with marine toxicologist, Dr.Susan Shaw (Director, Marine Environmental Research Institute, Blue Hill, Maine) for "The Ocean Doctor" radio program, you already know that scientists and conservation leaders are expressing grave concern for the unprecedented use of chemical dispersants in the Gulf. We believe that BP is conducting a large-scale, uncontrolled experiment on our only Gulf of Mexico.
Yesterday I was out on a boat taking water, oyster and fish samples for analysis by Dr. Shaw. We are especially interested in analysis of the toxic effects of the mixture of dispersant and oil. An NBC camera crew was with us and will be airing reports shortly (details to follow).
I want to take this opportunity to ask you to please take action to help us STOP BP'S USE OF CHEMICAL DISPERSANTS IN THE GULF.
If you are a scientist and/or leader of an academic institution, research laboratory or conservation organization, we invite you to sign on to the Scientists Consensus Statement on the Use of Chemical Dispersants in the Gulf of Mexico. You may download the Statement (PDF) and sign here.
If you are not a scientist or leader of an academic institution, research laboratory or conservation organization, please sign on to our public petition against the continued use of chemical dispersants:
Thank you for your continued support and involvement.
David Guggenheim

Lia Ditton and OBO Project Ltd are delighted to announce the signing of Host Universal, a specialist brand development agency, to undertake the mission of delivering the Open Boat Orchestra (OBO) to a global audience.
Founded in 1997 by Robin Smith, Host Universal is a specialist brand development agency based in London and working locally worldwide. Host realises brand value for socially and environmentally driven businesses and organisations and creates solutions to social, environmental and economic challenges. As such the agency has worked with many of the world’s most famous ethical brands, including Cafédirect and The Body Shop International, delivering over 500 projects across Asia, Africa, Latin America, the US and Europe.
The OBO Project will see Lia Ditton race a spectacular state-of-the-art yacht, non-stop around the world, the boat wired to stream live data, to record the physical forces of the wind and waves, for top musicians, orchestra’s and web users to mix and broadcast in real time during the 25,000 nautical mile voyage. ‘The Voice of the Ocean’ will be heard and seen worldwide during the race and after in a big venue, live music experience in Barcelona, on World Ocean Day –June 8th 2011. Issues like the oil disasters, plastic oceans, fish stock depletion; the imminent extinction of the Blue Fin Tuna and the acidification of our oceans all demand immediate action before they reach the point of no return. The event is intended to bring attention to, and raise money for solutions that safeguard the interests of the planet’s water world.
Lia on the OBO-Host partnership: “The Open Boat Orchestra is an extraordinary project. It requires a creative approach second to none. We are delighted to expand the OBO team and work with Host Universal, an agency that speaks the OBO language – a language that ultimately aims to drive change, in how we look after our biggest natural resource – the ocean”.
