Robin is the founder of Host Universal.

If you ever meet him you’ll notice something unusual.

He wears a hat.

It’s 2010, why is he wearing a hat?!

To keep his “Transformational Thinking” warm, is the answer.

Because over the past 12 years Robin has used it to develop new strategic tools and ways of working that unlock values-driven brand potential for some of the world’s most influential organisations and change-makers.

It helped evolve a strategy for Anita Roddick to end the reign of the fashion-waif by challenging media stereotypes and engaging Body Shop customers worldwide in a positively inspiring SELF-ESTEEM campaign. The work featured RUBY, the flame haired size-16 doll, and coupled serious facts with serious fun to produce work that Body Shop International still regard as their “most successful campaign ever”.

Robin’s “TT” helped Penny Newman and Sylvie Barr transport Cafédirect from charity shop coffee to what Millward Brown identified as the UK’s favourite brand, and outperforming every other Fair Trade brand on the way.

It developed high impact strategy, design and communications for Dale Vince at Ecotricity, the world’s first green energy company and now the proud owner of the Green Union jack. And payed handsome dividends for William Foote at Root Capital in the US, Jonathan Rosenthal at OKé USA, Paul Myers, President of the World Fair Trade Organization, and most recently, David Hutchison at Social Finance to open up ‘third sector’ organisations to large scale investment.
It has even helped Jonathan Wild create UBoC (United Bank of Carbon) a global business solution to Rainforest destruction; where world leading rainforest NGOs collaborate with businesses to build a sustainable Rainforest economy with $4.5t potential.

Along the way “Transformational Thinking” has helped Robin dismantle barriers between the ethical movement and the mainstream, and push the boundaries of ethical communications to develop concepts to utilise film production as a development mechanism; evolve virtual communities as locations for wind turbines and find a simple way to refreeze the Arctic ice.

Robin’s “Transformational Thinking” even prompted this note from Dee Hock, founder of the Chaordic Theory and VISA International, who commented on the organic concept that underpins Host Universal: “Thanks for the nice metaphor, just right for a country kid from Utah. And thanks for straightening out my ever regressive, Newtonian mind, which referred to your new idea as an "Advertising Agency”.  Amazing what happens when human ingenuity is released. Now give host universal a puff, watch the seeds scatter and fractal the world's nice, neat mechanical lawn with a carpet of yellow flowers, and by-the-way, the new leaves we always ate in the spring as "dandelion greens" long before spinach and lettuce came forth in the garden. With all best wishes, Dee.”

Robin has won industry awards across numerous accounts; transforming the gaming sector with his work for SEGA, to exposing battery farming with his work for Compassion In World Farming in 1987.

So, please, no questions about the hat.

It’s there for a very good reason.
