Pro Euro Conservatives
PEC The Pro Euro Conservatives were a political coalition set-up to break the nationalistic fervour that gripped the Tory party under Hague. Host was commissioned to write and produce a two-minute film featuring a ranting tramp who vaguely resembled the leader (man in a baseball cap). The script was pure paranoia and the video ran as party political broadcast across all channels. But what turned the idea into pages of ABC1 media was 100 bottles of whisky labelled Hague with a tramp on the front and a new manifesto for the conservative party on the rear (plus serving suggestion: Hague on the rocks). The bottles were delivered to top political journalists and the story took off. The video was used for pictures in the press. Our client, John Stevens, stepped up as a spokesman and table-thumping nationalism was shown-up for what it is – the paranoid rant of people losing power.
